Topic outline

  • Purpose

The purpose of this project is to make students reduce, recycle and re-use scrap found in their homeplace into something innovative and creative in the form of art or functional. Those innovations made from scraps can afterwards be shared on social media or on our innovation platform on formats like short clips or image slideshows.
  • What scrap to use?

Any broken, inoperative, discarded or old objects available in the household.

    • Ideation tool - S.C.A.M.P.E.R.

      What is S.C.A.M.P.E.R?

Created by Bob Eberle and based on the ideas of Alex Osborn, SCAMPER is a checklist that helps you to think of changes you can make to an existing product to create a new one.  You can use these changes either as direct suggestions or as starting points for lateral thinking. Each letter in the word SCAMPER has a purpose and can be used as a checklist. For example, S stands for Substitute, C stands for Combine, A stands for Adapt, M stands for Modify, Magnify or Minify, P stands for Put to another use, E stands for Eliminate, and, R stands for Reverse or Rearrange.

      • Substitute components and materials.
      • Combine and mix parts with another.
      • Adapt parts of another element to objects or alter functions.
      • Modify components and materials.
      • Put to another use.
      • Eliminate or remove elements, simplify, reduce to core functionality.
      • Rearrange/Reverse - turn inside out or upside down.
